Well...it has been quite a while since we have posted due to some unforseen circumstances. At 27 weeks pregnant I was put on bed rest! Try that with 4 toddlers!!! it has truly been stretching me in my life. Trust...patience...pride..you name it I have dealt with it the last 2 months. It is extremely hard to be in bed listening to someone else literally run your whole household. Well, it wasn't but a few days and i ended up with a severe kidney infection with kidney stones. the worst pain i have ever experienced! however, 8 weeks later, 5 hospital stays, 2 surgeries, in -home IV infusions, and tons of medications later...we are seeing a small light at teh end of our tunnel. I am dilated to a 3 and 80% effaced now! Or at least i was 5 days ago!! i figure it is any day now. i only had a 6 hour labor with Ian, so at this point i am just praying to just make it to the hospital on time. i am in constant severe pain and there is basically nothing they can do about it. It is all due to the kidneys stents that are placed (well, that and the 7 pound human sitting on top of them!) and they said it is not an option to remove the stents (even though i cried an oscar winning scene) due to the huge possiblity i could become septic (and die!). so, i must bear the pain a little longer and they will remove them as soon as i have this baby!!! i am ecstatic! My poor husband just wants to know if i will ever walk upright again! But praise God it is almost over. we have had wonderful people helping us and supporting us through this whole ordeal! God has truly provided for us (daily meals for weeks on end, phone calls of encouragement, the perfect person to care for our children during this time, and my mom who has been a life saver through the whole thing!). God continues to give us strength when we thought we had no more. please keep praying for us!

How God Created a Miracle in Our Family...
Most people look at our family and either say "you're crazy" or "what a blessing". It is that statement alone that sets people apart in how they view what happens in life. We were childless for 6 years before God blessed us with our third foster child, Isaiah, whom we adopted. Our tiny, three pound, adorable baby boy quickly became the love of our lives.
8 months after Isaiah was born, my father-in-law gave a woman a ride. That 4 block ride changed our lives forever when she told him she was pregnant and giving up her baby for adoption. Oh yeah...and she was due in 8 days! Well, just 5 days later, we had Makenna Shea!
3 months later, after Dirk and I had just prayed to have another baby when Makenna was about 1, that same birth mother called asking us to take her next baby. Isabella was born 1 week shy of Makenna's first birthday!
The funny part of the story is when we found out that I, the one who could never get pregnant, was pregnant! Ian was born 7 weeks after Isabella! God had given us 4 children all under the age of 1 1/2!!! We were thrilled! Such a work of God's hands it was.
This year we added to our clan when we were surprisingly pregnant again (so much for not being able to get pregnant). We now have 5 under 4! And I now wonder how mom's manage with all those kids so spread apart in age. It may be hard sometimes, but we love our life!
